Hello and welcome to Sarum Class!

Term 5 2018-19

Thank you for stopping by and reading about our amazing class.  It’s incredible to think that we have reached Term 5 – wow!  We have enjoyed so many wonderful learning experiences so far, and there is much more to come.  I do want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for your support and for the enthusiasm you demonstrated for ‘Dragon Days’ in Term 4.  The children were magnificent and we in Sarum couldn’t have done it without your hard work too, so thank you again.

So, I hear you ask, what of Term 5?  Well, it’s all Greek to me!  Groovy Greeks that is.  That is to say that our topic focus this term is all about Ancient Greece.  We will learn about all aspects of Greek life, stories, important figures, and how this civilization made a huge impact on Britain.  I hope your child will be as enthused in this period of History as I am.

The ever-energetic Ms Wildman will continue to teach Sarum PE on Monday afternoons and alternate Wednesday mornings, and this term she will be focusing on Cricket and Athletics.  As the weather is now warming up, our activities will be more outdoor based, therefore it is essential that your child does have suitable clothing and footwear for this.  It is important that children do have their PE kit here everyday and as we all know, pieces can go astray, so as a school, we would strongly encourage you to label all your child’s belongings.

With the weather hopefully warming up, children in Sarum should bring a water bottle to school every day.   Children who do drink water through the day do benefit from this as it helps with their learning, as well as keeping them hydrated especially on very hot days.  It would also be helpful to have a sunhat handy.

In Sarum and in Year 3 generally, we will continue to provide home learning activities related to spellings and more Maths.  These opportunities are designed to support children with aspects of learning they have experienced in class.  If for any reason you and your child find any difficulties with this, please let me know.  With that in mind, you can always leave messages in your child’s Home School Contact book and I will read them and respond to them.  This book also provides for me the opportunity to share great news with you about your child.  It is important therefore that they have this in school every day as well as their reading books.

If there is any further information you would like regarding your child’s learning or any other matter you would like to discuss, please let me know.  You can contact me at school through the usual channels or leave a message in their Home School Contact book.
