Welcome to Yarnbury Class

Term 6 will be full of exciting learning linked to our Land Ahoy topic – including our pirates dressing up day!  In our English lessons, we will be learning, planning and writing adventure stories.  As mathematicians this term, we will be working with data and measures, including investigating length, height, weight and capacity.  In our PE lessons we will be improving our throwing, jumping and running skills in preparation for our Sports Day.  As scientists, we will be carrying out investigations to find out about waterproof materials. In our art and DT sessions will be exploring the work of sculptor Andy Goldsworthy and using his technique to inspire our own masterpieces, using natural materials found around our beautiful school grounds.  We are looking forward to using the iPads during our computing time, to programme characters using the Scratch Junior app!  Our RE this term will be all about Islam and making the special journey to Mecca.  Our BLP (Building Learning Power) theme for this term is reflectiveness so we will be thinking back over our year together and talking about the positive changes we have experienced.

Our PE lessons are on Mondays and Fridays.  Please make sure your child always has a full PE kit in school, including appropriate footwear.

We frequently deal with issues regarding lost jumpers, cardigans, coats etc.  Please ensure your child’s name is on everything as this means items will quickly find their way back to the right person!

Children can keep their water bottles in the classroom, as we understand that staying hydrated is an important part of keeping healthy.  Please make sure these are named.  Our school provides fruit for morning break time.

If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with us via your child’s home-school contact book or leave a message with the office staff.

Thank you for your support,

Mrs Brindley and Mrs Burgess
