Welcome to Yarnbury Class
Our first term together will be full of exciting learning linked to our Down in the Woods topic, including our Forest School day when we will be using different materials to build dens on our field – parents will be invited to join us, details coming soon! In our English lessons, we will focus on the story Little Red Riding Hood. We will learn our story off-by-heart and then make changes to create and write our own versions to share with you. As mathematicians this term, we will be securing our understanding of place value, and working with basic addition and subtraction calculations. In our PE lessons we will be learning new football and hockey skills, including passing and shooting. As scientists, we will be carrying out investigations to find out about plants. As part of our geography learning, we will be exploring woods in our local area – parents will be invited to join us, details coming soon. We are looking forward to using the iPads during our computing time, to programme characters using the Scratch Junior app. Our RE this term will be all about kindness and we will be using Bible stories to explore what it means to be kind to others. Our BLP (Building Learning Power) theme for this term is respect so we will be thinking about how we show respect for others, ourselves and our belongings. To celebrate our first term together, we will be inviting you in to celebrate your child’s learning as we approach the October half term – details to follow soon.
Our PE lessons are on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please make sure your child always has a full PE kit in school, including appropriate footwear.
We frequently deal with issues regarding lost jumpers, cardigans, coats etc. Please ensure your child’s name is on everything as this means items will quickly find their way back to the right person!
Children can keep their water bottles in the classroom, as we understand that staying hydrated is an important part of keeping healthy. Please make sure these are named. Our school provides fruit for morning break time.
If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with us via your child’s home-school contact book or leave a message with the office staff.
